About the Black-headed Caique
Also known as the Black-headed Parrot or Black-capped Parrot, the Black-headed Caique is a medium-sized bird at about 9-10 inches from tip of the beak to tip of the tail. Males and females do not differ in size or coloration, and so are not easily distinguishable. Wild caiques can be found in forests and swamps in the northern and western parts of South America (Brazil, Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, French Guiana, Surname, Venzuela and the northern part of the Amazon). They are playful and full of energy, and while they do not usually learn human words, they do mimic many other sounds.
