About the Eclectus parrot.

Found in the tropical rainforests of Papua New Guinea and surrounding islands, the Eclectus parrot is the most sexually dipmorphic of all the parrots.  The male and female are so different in coloration that they were mistaken for different species for many years.  The male Eclectus is primarily green with an orange/yellow beak and spashes of red and blue on the wings.  The female Eclectus is primarily red, with a black beak and varying amounts of blue or purple markings depending on the subspecies.
